We work across multiple industries for organisations who are household names. From major banks, through technology companies, airports, manufacturing and public sector, the range of accounts our team work on is large and varied. If understanding what goes on within major blue chip companies and helping them with some of their key technology challenges appeals, then Apto could be the right place for you.

Our clients have large and complex IT infrastructures which are typically critical to their core business. Think of a fintech business running a trading platform, a telecoms business operating a network or even an Airport running its check in and security technology. These businesses rely on monitoring and observing those systems, ensuring they are secure and performant.

At Apto, we are machine data experts, empowering clients to own, manage and rule their data to optimise their operational monitoring.  Whether it’s for security, IT Operations or production monitoring, we fuse domain and technology expertise with our client’s people, processes and business knowledge, to help them maximise the value they derive from their data.

Within this monitoring domain our customers invest millions in powerful technology platforms, but they often fail to see the full value. The greatest weakness of these platforms is that they fail silently. A broken data pipeline, a misconfigured parser, or a new unmonitored service means a customer’s operational monitoring is compromised and they may not know it. Compounding this, Modern SIEM and Observability platforms, including data pipelines are not simple “tools”—they are complex, distributed data engines.

At Apto, our services help our customers to realise their value. Using a proven methodology we help our customers to fully understand what data they have and what they are trying to achieve with it. We help them architect data engineering solutions which will realise those requirements and critically, we help our customers Operate those platforms ensuring that they remain operational and performant.

Life at Apto

At Apto, we follow a hybrid working approach. This means we’re mainly in the office three days a week and at home for the remaining two. Of course, you’re welcome to come in more often too and you’ll probably spot a few familiar faces if you do.

The day starts at 9, and everyone begins arriving at the office. Grab yourself a drink, settle in, and get cracking on your to-do list. Meetings will happen throughout the day with the relevant people, but even if nothing is scheduled, don’t hesitate to reach out to your peers for support. We’re always willing to support each other here at Apto. No two days are the same, so that’s just a brief overview of what day-to-day life can look like.

On the other hand, weekly company meetings are consistent. This time is set aside to understand what everyone is focusing on that week so we can all stay aligned. It helps drive transparency across the business and opens up opportunities, as you can share strategies and ideas with others — and pick up suggestions for yourself too.

New starters will likely be assigned a buddy, who will be your main point of contact during the joining process. That said, you’re not restricted to this person everyone is here to make your entrance as smooth as possible. You’ll also have opportunities to build your skills and complete certain training certifications as your Apto strongly believes in personal development.

Some days may involve travelling by train, or sometimes even by plane, to visit partners/vendors, or to attend events. The most common places are London, Manchester, Scotland, etc., though in the past this has even included Vegas and Myanmar!

With the day coming to a close sometimes we finish at the pub for a few drinks; a chance to catch up with your peers after work in a more relaxed, non-work environment. We’re lucky to be located near lots of great options, and we’re always open to trying new locations and activities for socials.
